This heavy 14-gauge wok is an easy and fun to use. The natural, blond, wooden handle and wooden spool helper handle or metal loop helper handle, allows the cook full command of the wok. The flat bottom wok is designed to sit directly on an electric coil stove or grill to take advantage of all the heat. Wok cooking is done with high heat. The flat bottom wok also works very efficiently on a gas stove. If cooking with gas, the same wok is available in round bottom. Wok measures 4″ in depth. Cooking recommendations: 12″ for up to 5 people, 14″ for 6 to 12 people, and 16″ for over 12 people. Must be seasoned.

    This is my first traditional wok and I had (and still do) have a lot to learn. The wok must be seasoned exactly according to the instructions, (at least one hour and NOT 30 minutes like it says in the video). Sequencing is the key here: it is important to heat the wok and THEN put in the oil, and FINALLY the vegetables. Moreover, you need to have everything cut up and prepared before you fire up the wok. I made a mess of everything BUT I wrote to Ms. Tane Chan, the owner of the WOK Shop and she very patiently helped me get it right. You can always scrub the wok and reseason it (so I learned). Ms. Chan also made sure I ordered the correct spatula. I really appreciate her commitment to her customers.

    I love this wok! I am a cooking teacher that teaches a lot of Chinese and Thai classes. I had the same wok for many years but the handle broke so bought this one on recommendation from a friend who is the author of several excellent Chinese cookbooks (Grace Young). I really prefer this new wok. The rivets that attach the handle to the wok are seamless and the wok is sturdy and well made.

    Purchased our Wok and we absolutely love it. It has performed wonderfully and is now used by me more than any of my other pots and pans. From main courses to soups it has done all I hoped for and more. The staff at the Wok Shop were helpful in their recommendation and answered my questions right away via email. I followed their directions for seasoning my new Wok but actually let it season between 45min – 1 hr. Looking forward to purchasing another Wok soon. Plan on buying another 16” Wok.

    This wok is exactly as described and I’m very excited to have this in my kitchen. I’m still getting used to cooking with it but I can tell the difference in the taste of my stir-fry already. I was previously using a 10″ hard-anodized (not non-stick) wok but I was looking for something bigger. I was intimidated by having to season the wok but it was very easy to do. Now I can use less oil due to the carbon steel’s non-stick properties and I get that great wok-cooked flavor which I didn’t have with the hard-anodized wok. I did a lot of research (reading blogs; watching a multitude of videos) before settling on this one and I’m glad I did. I remember my mom cooking in her wok when I was a kid and I want my kids to have the same experience and carry on the tradition. My order was shipped and arrived in a satisfactory condition. I would definitely order from The Wok Shop again.

    I recently bought 2 x 12″ woks for Christmas gifts. I was pushed over the edge to get them after I saw that Tane Chan had a wok-seasoning tutorial, which taught me a couple of things I didn’t know before. So I was able to fully season the woks for the recipients. They were beautiful coming out of the box.

    The wok heats up quick, and is a good size for our meals. The screw on handle will need a nut to tighten it, as it easily loosens and spins.

    I love this wok! The seasoning instructions were very helpful and not difficult to follow. The wok makes great food with every recipe I have tried. I love the patina that is developing , and I know that wok shop will be there to help me if I ever have questions.

    I bought this wok online for delivery in Toronto, Canada. Never having seen their products, I was a bit dubious about the quality when I placed my order. I was pleasantly surprised when my order arrived (very quickly, complete, and in good order) and I felt the weight and saw the quality of the wok and all other items I had purchased. They are good quality, well designed, well weighted, easy to handle and were delivered as advertised.     This is an excellent wok. While there are a few others on the market that are similar, the Wok Shop provides rather unique & detailed seasoning instructions that prepare the wok for use. In addition, the price is very reasonable
