    I was lucky enough to visit the Wok Shop and a cleaver was one of several things on my list. The very helpful woman who assisted me suggested this one. I need a cleaver for rather casual use since I am not generally chopping through big bones and I also have some arthritis so the heaviest cleavers are too much for me.
    I have used it so far just to cut through meat, which it did with ease. It is heavy enough but not so heavy to be uncomfortable; the fit and finish are ok but not perfect, and not only fine for my needs but good for an inexpensive cleaver. The handle is rather sharp on the edges so I sanded them a bit.
    Note this is NOT carbon steel, it is high-carbon stainless steel which makes it easier to care for. Take care when storing as water can get in the area where they handle fits (pretty standard for many Asian knives) as well as absorb into the handle itself. I will probably apply beeswax or cutting board wax to the handle to help protect it.
